COLD WEATHER SHELTER

DOORS OPEN AT 6 PM

The Fellowship Hall, accessed on N. Ashe Ave, will open at 6 PM on nights Room In the Inn is operational. Coffee and snacks will be available when doors open.  Dinner will be served at 7 PM. Lights out at 11 PM.

EXIT FOR MORNING AT 8:30 AM

Breakfast will be served at 7 AM and guests will be asked to head out by 8:30 AM.  If the shelter will be open the following night, belongings may be left in the Fellowship Hall.

Christmas of 2022, frigid cold descended on our area without anywhere in our immediate vicinity for those without shelter to go. So, First UMC opened its doors to  house a cold weather shelter.  This shelter continues. When temperatures drop below 25 degrees, a good dinner, breakfast,  and warm place to sleep will be available to all those in need. This endeavor takes a tremendous amount of volunteers and so if you would be willing to help in any capacity - please fill out the volunteer form below.
